Bernie Anderson is the lead pastor of the Wasatch Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Bernie’s love for the local church began at an early age, when as a child he set up a TV tray in the living room and began preaching behind it, imitating a pastor he had seen at church. Bernie believes that churches are God’s primary agents for the transformation of the world.
In 2003 God brought about a powerful transformation in his life by breaking a longtime struggle with pornography. Prompted by a desire to help others and to call attention to porn’s impact on the church, Bernie now openly shares his story of how God has given him new life. Bernie has shared his story with Focus on the Family, Fox News’ On the Record with Greta Van Susteren, the Associated Press, Newsweek magazine, and ABC World News Tonight.
Pastor Anderson travels nationally, and internationally speaking on the problem of pornography to adults and teens. He currently serves on the board of Fireproof Ministries and writes a weekly blog for the popular Christian web-site xxxchurch.com. Bernie’s book Breaking the Silence: A Pastor Goes Public about His Battle with Pornography was released in August of 2007. He continues to study pornography’s impact on the spiritual lives of Christians and plans to write a second book and curriculum called Brave focused on helping Christian teen boys.
Pastor Anderson received his undergraduate Theology degree from Southwestern Adventist University (Keene, TX), and his Masters of Divinity degree from Andrews University. Bernie is married to Christina, and they are raising three daughters Madison, Brooklyn, and Liberty.

Hey Bernie, I thought you’d like to see this. My grandparents think the world of you and your name has been mentioned several times these past 2 weeks. My grandpa got sick over a month ago and passed away yesterday.
I’ve read your book – very brave and honest. I am proud of you and your fight!
